Easter 2020 oh how I had big plans for you! I thought this was my year to shine and go all out. I was literally aiming to be that E X T R A mom I wanted to do the cute outfits, the cute food and you know the whole 9. But yeah thats not how it played out.
I guess in a way thats okay because although this is such a weird time for all of us. I can honestly say that this was one of my favorite holidays so far. And I think its because in previous years theres always a plan, “Oh we have to go here” and “don’t forget we have to go over there too, so we have to leave early” And honestly by the end of the day everything is a blur. And you just know you’re home with a basket full of eggs and kids running on a sugar rush. (thats happened more than one time)
But this Easter I had the chance to just go with the flow and really enjoy the kids, the day, and the moment. I woke up and went to the grocery store to get a few things we needed and went by my moms house to pick up some donuts she had gotten the kids with the cutest little peeps! Like seriously why didn’t I think of that
After their little peep moment we cleaned a bit. I got them ready and they were kind of confused because I had been keeping our plans a “secret” but honestly I didn’t know what I was really doing lol. I set up their little table outside with their egg dye kits, okay so why didn’t anyone tell me that dyeing eggs wasn’t as easy as it looks? Is there like a special way to dye eggs because the plain water and paint route didn’t work. But the ones that had the paint pre-made worked out perfectly. The kids didn’t really care they were having a great time figuring it out.
Then we came inside and I remembered these giant coloring pages I got them maybe two weeks ago. So I went ahead and got them out, let them pick their favorite one and sat down and colored with them for a while. I then got up and got ready for their next activity, now remember how I said this Easter was by far my favorite one. Well this is when I realized that.
I allowed myself to completely be in the moment, I didn’t take my camera out or my cellphone for the remainder of the day. I was able to snap a few pictures here and there but for the most part it stayed in my purse. I was surrounded by the most important people in my life and I really felt the need to breath that it. I know with everything going on in the world its hard to fully enjoy things but something was telling me to be still and enjoy everything around me. My kids, my family and my friends are all happy and healthy and this is all I can really ask for at the moment.
Our 2020 Easter wasn’t at all what i thought it would be but it turned out to be way better than what I had in mind.
I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend! And that even with everything going on that you were able to enjoy yourselves with the ones closest to you.
