One year we made it!!!
I cannot believe how fast this year flew by, it literally feels like we said I DO just a few months ago. Married life has definitely been a new journey I never believe when people said “it’s different but so worth it” and I would always say “no I think it’ll be the same ive been with him for a decade. I’m sure not much will change” Boy was I wrong lol! I mean don’t get me wrong we’re doing amazing sweetie but marriage has its days and its a new territory that we are still trying to figure out. But none the less its been an amazing year full or growth and love.
T asked me what we were doing to celebrate our anniversary coming up last Sunday. As you guys know we’re in the middle of a pandemic and well theres not much we can do, I kinda shot him the look like “are you kidding me” he knows I’m big on celebrations but he also knows that once something goes wrong I get in my little moods and I don’t wan anything to do with it. And that was the case here. On Monday during lunch I sat down and thought to myself you need to put your big girl panties and plan something this is a huge milestone! You need to be happy and proud of this. So I started looking for ideas on good ol Pinterest.
And honestly for the first time EVER it let me down, it was suggesting gift ideas and thats not what I wanted. So then it dawned on me….he’s a painter and I love wine ssssooo why not host our own sip and paint! Okay so thats not what I said lol but thats something we have always wanted to do just never got the chance to do it. I didn’t tell him right away because my next step was to look for painting videos because your girl is not a painter. It soon became clear that I was going to suck either way so I went ahead and told him what I had in mind.
My heart was so happy by the end of that conversation because he was so excited about my little plan.
Saturday rolled around with a quickness lol so that morning we went to the store early in the morning to get our supplies and ingredients, because he wanted to cook for us. Let me just say that everybody and their mamma must’ve became an artist over night because there was no acrylic paint in sight!! I was so ready to call it quits but T was like “don’t worry we’ll just go to another Walmart.” And we did and we found some paint, he’s honestly amazing.
So at around 5 or so I took the kids to my moms house (don’t come for me she watches them when I’m at work so this is not out of the ordinary) And when I got back home I starting setting up our little painting area. We’re still working on our house and the lighting situation was a bit tricky but we made it work. We got our wine ready and sat down and got to work. I took the easy route and followed a step by step tutorial while T took the Picasso route and freelanced it.
Let me just say that painting isn’t as easy as it looks I was sssttrruugling with a capital ING. We also had to take breaks because the paint needed to dry. So in one our breaks we ate the most delicious plate I’ve ever had, he decided to call it salmon and shrimp cajun pasta (because thats exactly what it was lol) And OMG it was amazing. So after we ate we watched a movie that we fell asleep on and well our paintings were forgotten as well. FACE PALM!!
We are seriously old people because I kid you not we were asleep by 10 pm lol!
We might of not had a super fancy dinner or anything fancy for that matter but I wouldn’t of wanted this day to go any other way. I was able to spend time with my husband, we talked, and joked for hours. He hyped me up even though my painting was a complete mess at first “just add your own twist make it your painting, I think its beautiful”. He prepared dinner that he was so proud of and that literally put us to sleep lol. His company and undivided attention was more than enough. I will forever cherish this day and it will forever be my favorite anniversary! Thank you babe and I love you so much.
Our one year wedding anniversary quarantine style was S U C C E S S!
I know this pandemic has caused a lot of celebrations and milestone to come to a stop but please try and find little ways to celebrate them at home. You deserve that and your accomplishments deserve to be celebrated.
I hope you enjoyed reading about our little quarantine wedding anniversary. See you next time!
