I’m sure that you guys have seen these Terracotta beauties circling either on your Instagram or Pinterest by now. And if you haven’t do you live under a rock?
I knew I had to do a little DIY after seeing them, so here I am showing you my super easy DIY terracotta vases. And when I say they’re super easy I mean one, two, three easy.
Before I start I do want to say that there’s no right or wrong way to do this project. I have seen people add baking powder to the paint, some use the matte paint alone or matte spray paint. Some people really get creative and add texture or drawings so it’s up to you and what you envision. I went with the matte paint, I tried the baking powder method and let me just say that was a F A I L. It was my fault though I didn’t follow the measurements lol.
What you need
– vases that need a little loving(i thrifted mine)
- -acrylic matte paint, make sure it says matte finish
-brushes (bristle or foam)
-a bowl
How To
-pour the matte paint in your bowl
-get your brush and get to painting girl
-i had to apply three to four coats depending on the vase. but make sure the paint is dry before you apply the next coat. My clear vases did require more than four coats because the white was not showing.
And that’s it! Yup, you read that right that’s it!
I will say if you want a little more texture definitely add the baking powder to get that extra humph. Your girl was just not ready for that level of expertise lol. I honestly love how simple these look and I added my dry flower arrangements. I have a thing for drying roses as you can tell. Each one of these bouquets has a special meaning so the ones in the pink vase are my wedding roses, brown vase holds my brother’s wedding flower bouquet, and the white vase holds the bouquet that T gave me this year.
But you can add whatever you would like or leave them empty, either way, they make a statement.
